Let It Snow

Just to set the scene the photographs in the previous post, Glorious Gorey, were taken TWO DAYS before this post! There had been red weather alerts posted a few days before informing us of a cold weather front that would arrive in the early hours of Monday morning. In Jersey the bus companies primarily dictate whether the schools will close or not for obvious transport reasons. Of course there is also input from the education department and on this occasion, despite there being no snow at 6am, the schools were closed on Monday. This was the right decision as the Island was covered in a thick 15 tog duvet of snow by midday! No mere blanket of snow for us! Some of the rural parishes were completely cut off from the road network until Thursday when the snow finally stopped and the states vehicles were able to clear the roads. The snow was over 1.5m deep in places and the snow piles at the side of the roads lasted for well over a week after the initial snow had melted. Here are a few photographs from inside the comfort of our own home!

  1. Wow, 1.5 meters! That's impressive. I hope you hunkered down with a cup of hot chocolate and your hubby to enjoy a day off for snow. :)
